Robert Lee Peffer

February 10, 1925 - January 22, 2019

Robert Lee Peffer, age 93, died at home January 22, 2019, after a short illness.

Robert was born to Lee and Mathilda (Wimmer) Peffer in St. Cloud, MN, on February 10, 1925. He attended Cathedral High School and St. John's University in St. Cloud. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He met the love of his life, Anita Louise Reddick, in St. Paul. They were married in 1951 after a five month engagement. Robert and Anita had four children, Michael, Cheryl, Jeanne, and Douglas, all raised in Fremont, CA. Anita died in 2013, after 62 years of marriage.

Robert was a veteran of WW2, serving in the Navy. Following the war, he continued in the Naval Reserve as a flight navigator. He retired in 1973 at the rank of Commander. Most of his civilian career was spent as an engineer, working for the Navy.

In retirement, Bob became a world traveler, hiker, skier, and a fine furniture builder. In 2004, he and Anita moved to Ashland, OR, to enjoy its many cultural activities. Up until his last month, Bob was living independently, attending concerts, OLLI classes and lectures, and having coffee with his buddies three times a week. He was always ready for a rousing theological or ethics discussion.

Robert is survived by his family, Michael and Karen, Cheryl and Rich, Jeanne and Jeff, and Stephanie (Douglas died in 2012). Robert has 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Karin Kuhl, the staff of Celia's House Hospice and all of Bob's friends who meant so much to him.

Bob was a kind and quiet man. He will be missed by his family and friends, but we all know that he and Anita are finally together again.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland, OR, on February 8, 2019, at 10:30 am.
