Kevin Matchett

Kevin Charles Matchett, 67, of Jacksonville, Oregon, passed away unexpectedly while recovering from spinal surgery on October 25, 2018 at OHSU in Portland, Oregon.

Kevin was born on March 28, 1951 in Tacoma, Washington. He grew up in Lakeview, Oregon and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1969. He was a student at Oregon State University and later attended Oregon Institute of Technology and was on the Dean's list.

Kevin married Mary Willison on August 26, 1989. Mary passed away in 2003.

Kevin spent over 20 years as a Lending Manager and Officer in Auto Finance Banking at US Bank and later with WFS Financial. He was well-liked and known by all the local car dealerships. He retired in January of 2018.

Kevin was a voracious reader who loved historical fiction and actual history. He was also an excellent writer and had a humorous way with words, even in his texts! He enjoyed caring for his property and entertaining. He was an excellent party host, and had many types such as barbecues, Superbowl, Oregon Civil War, birthday, holiday, and more. He loved cars, antique and otherwise.

Kevin had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. He was always in a good mood, and made people happy just to be around him. He loved surprising everybody with little gifts which demonstrated a thoughtful and time consuming process of picking them out. He often took pictures with his Polaroid camera, and gave many instant prints to his mother. Each postage stamped envelope that he sent to his mom had a unique return address written by hand such as "Her most devoted son, Kevin" or "Her favorite son." Kevin's continual kind, generous and good nature endeared him to everybody who knew him.

Kevin will be sadly missed by his mother, Jeanne Matchett of Klamath Falls, stepchildren Olivia of Shady Cove, and Drew (Sadie) Willison of White City; his brothers Lee (Cheryl) Matchett and Ron (Janell) Matchett of Klamath Falls; and his grandchild Abby; nephews and nieces Kristina, Derek and Jenna Matchett, Farrah Hanson, Stina (Jason) Turner, Amy (Drew) Snyder, Joel (Sarah) Matchett, Lacey (Colby) Hansen, Sarah Matchett, Mary Matchett; eight great-nieces and four great-nephews. Kevin was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his father, Roy, and his aunt Delores.

To honor Kevin, a Celebration of Life service will be held in Medford, Oregon at Memory Gardens 1395 Arnold Lane on Friday, November 9th at 2:00 p.m.
