Ray Richards

Ray was born in American Fork, Utah. He grew up in Eureka, Utah and worked in a service station at 17. He was a hard rock miner at age 20. He married Estelle Adams in 1941.

After his service in the U.S. Navy they moved to Salt Lake City where their sons were born. Ray apprenticed in the heating and sheet metal trade under the G.I. Bill. The family moved to Oregon in 1956 and in 1959 started Richard Heating and Sheet Metal in Ashland where both he and Estelle worked for 45 years.

Ray was still dancing, playing chess and pool, and driving his car. He died suddenly from natural causes while checking the tires on his car.

He is survived by Estelle, his wife of 77 years; sons, Tim (Georgia) of Roseburg, Ore., Michael of Ashland, Ore; grandson, James (Erin); and great-grandaughter Fiona of Bremerton, Washington.

He will be missed.
