Lucile Gann

March 6, 1926 - October 4, 2018

Lucile M. Gann, age 92, of Medford passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her family. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at West Main Church of Christ in Medford at 11:00 a.m.

Lucile was born March 6, 1926 in Medford, Oregon to Fred and Leila (Bigham) Smith. She grew up in the shadow of upper Table Rock, attended the Table Rock Schoolhouse and graduated in 1944 from Central Point High School (Pointers). She was the oldest of three siblings. Until her marriage, she worked as a Deputy County Clerk.

She married James Melvin Gann on September 28, 1957 at West Main Church of Christ in Medford. Together they raised their three children, Elaine, Russell and Glen as well as Jim's two children, Jimmy and Shawnee.

Lucile enjoyed knitting, crocheting, being active in her church, volunteering in the schools while her children grew-up, and working on the Jackson County Election Board. But her true passion was spending time with her grandchildren. She was an amazing grandmother; always baking, gardening, reading to, playing with or teaching her grandkids many things.

Lucile is survived by daughters Shawnee Powers of North Bend, Elaine (George) Chinnici of Central Point; sons Russell (Shawna) of Medford, Glen (Theresa) of Medford; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother Wayne Smith of Central Point. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jim, her parents, brother Ernest and son Jimmy.

Her family wishes to thank the staff at Fountain Plaza, where she resided the last seven years, for their excellent care and genuine kindness. We are blessed to know each of you.
