Claude-Marie Ward passed away in Ashland August 2, 2018. Born Countess Claude Marie d'Ursel in Brussels, Belgium, October 14, 1921, a daughter of Count and Countess Conrard d'Ursel. She was married in Belgium on August 27, 1953 to Jack Bruce Walker, who died in Walnut Creek, California December 27, 1967. She married William Franklin Ward December 28, 1971 in Carmel, California. They divorced December 12, 1994. She was an active member of Chapter EE, P.E.O., Ashland, The Gold Diggers Guild of the Southern Oregon Historical Society, a volunteer at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for many years, and an ever willing volunteer at Southern Oregon University, including chairing the board of the Schneider Museum of Art and serving on the Regional Advisory Board, She was a world traveler and lived in Europe, Iran and Hong Kong, before settling in Ashland, Oregon in 1980.

She is survived by a cousin, Edmee Snoy Taylor of Washington, D.C., and numerous nieces and nephews in Belgium and England. A funeral service will be held for her at Our Lady of the Mountain Church, 987 Hillview Dr., Ashland, Thursday, August 16, Noon Mass. Contributions can be made in her memory to the Schneider Museum of Art, SOU Foundation, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd. Ashland, OR 97520.
