Abraham (Abe) (Murph) Rosenstein

1924 -


Murph was born in Bethlehem, PA and spent his childhood with parents, Bertha and David; sister, Margaret (Marge); and brother, Edward (Ed). He was a good student and a good athlete, graduating from Bethlehem HS. His last day of living on this earth, was Oct. 1, 2018, He was 94 years old.

After joining the U.S. Marine Corps at age 17, in 1941, he went from Camp Lejeune, N.C., to Camp Pendleton, CA, then on to Hawaii, to become a Maui Marine. He fought in all the major battles in the South Pacific, in WW2. He also went on Bond Tours as an exhibition boxer, and played basketball, on the Marine Corps team. There were many medals awarded to him, along with the Purple Heart he received for his injuries sustained in the Battle of Iwo Jima. His Honorable Discharge as a Corporal was in 1946 and spent the rest of his life in Calif. & Oregon. He enjoyed the lectures he gave to students in Medford schools, relating his experiences in the Marine Corps.

Murph married Barbara Levine in 1950, and they had two sons, David & Stuart- After his divorce, he sold the roofing business, sold franchises for Coit Drapery, and then went into the real estate business. He met Glenda Argyle, they married in 1966, and they had a wonderful life together, for 52 years. Travelling around the world to 58 countries, taking 6 cruises, and enjoying good times with great friends, filled Murph's life.

He had a successful business, owning Associated Business Properties, in Los Angeles. He also was a business appraiser, for the LA County District Court. Murph was a big sports fan, liking the S.F. 49'ers and S.F. Giants. But his favorite sport was golf and played regularly for over 60 years. When he & Glenda moved to Medford, from CA he enjoyed fishing-in the local waters, and salmon fishing, in Canada.

He was pre-deceased by the tragic death of his son Stuart. He leaves behind wife Glenda, son David, with his wife Tori, and grandchildren Gabriel, Theo, & Isabel- He also leaves grandson Sky, his wife Corrine, and great-grandchildren Hailey & Caleb. His sister Marge & brother Ed, live in Calif., with their spouses. There are numerous nieces & nephews, rounding out his family. He loved them all.

Murph will be remembered as a people-person, with a great sense of humor. There were many one-liners & great jokes in his bag of tricks and opened that bag every day. His warm smile, his honesty, and a twinkle in his eyes, could get him in trouble, but would prove to be great assets. He also loved all kinds of competition and spent enjoyable times in the Superior Health Club in Medford. The giving of his time and money, gave him great pleasure, also.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Cendejas, Dr. Kotler, RRMC, and the great people with Asante Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Murph.

Murph didn't want a funeral or memorial, and requested cremation, which his family has honored.
